I have watched a number of the GunMuse videos talk about the Shooting Gallery. He spends some time trying to get just the right loot layout using the refresh button. Before doing it to get a specific reward. When I think he might be a bit off on how it is working. I have been charting my initial setup and then how the selection process plays out everytime I hit one of the targets.
I have come to the conclusion that it does not matter what targets are being selected or even in what order they are being selected. The rewards will pretty much be the same by the time you get to the 5th round.
What you win in the Shooting Gallery is not very random. They show you nine squares in a sort of tic tac toe 3 x 3 grid. Every time you hit the refresh button, it changes. But not by very much. The first six things that you win are in the top two rows. They have lower rewards than the last row.
Every time you hit a target (does not matter which one), you have a 45% chance of winning the lowest reward remaining. You also have a 45% chance of winning the next higher one and a 10% chance of winning the above that. If you are lucky enough to win the higher reward, your next reward will be the lower one that you did not win previously. So it is sort of a wash.
Example. If you are doing gear and have the following:
Steel 420 | Speedup 120 | Steel 1875
Steel 3200 | Steel 4350 | Steel 8375
Steel 15000 | Crimson 5000 | Steel 5300You will most likely win in this order:
Steel 420, Speedup 120, Steel 1875, Steel 3200, Steel 4350, Steel 8375, Steel 15000, etc. in that order.
But sometimes it plays out as:
Speedup 120, Steel 420, Steel 1875, Steel 4350, Steel 3200, Steel 8375, etc.…If you look at the list, you will see that your first five wins are always pretty much the same. You just think you are winning something special, but not really.
So make sure that you refresh until the six things that you need are in the top two rows because that is what you will get.
Well, that is what I have come up with. Has anyone experienced it differently?

Great post. I shall try this and take a couple screen shots. And post.

I spend time getting the pattern right BECAUSE the order or target you select doesn’t matter. By hitting the refresh I am looking for specific loot that i will land in the 1 3 5 shot area and i know it will with 90% certainty. Which your test proved out good job.
The RR links will always take you to CURRENT upload or the CURRENT Live event so good book marks.

I agree getting the pattern right is important, but the pattern changes are not that great. I watch, and it never seems to put the high-value items in the top two rows. It might move around the items in the top two rows to give you a feeling that something is happening, but in the end, it does not matter where the items end up. It just starts awarding with the lowest value and works it way up to the higher value item. Sometimes as I mentioned, it will swap the second lowest or third lowest remaining for the lowest one, but on the next target, you get the lowest one left.
Try it; there is no voodoo magic to it.
The important thing during the refresh is to make sure that it is displaying most of the items that you want.

As an update, I think it does not matter where the Items show up after a refresh, top 2 rows, or the bottom row. It just goes from the lowest value reward to mosts with that little bit of randomness that I mentioned.
